5 Ways to Get Creatively Inspired When You’re Feeling Stuck

Has this ever happened to you?...
You slowly mosey out of bed, get out that long list of To-Dos you made the night before, and feel absolutely uninspired, (even though you know you don't have time to feel stuck...) I've been there too...You're not alone!
Here's a quick list of a few things that have helped me get creatively inspired when I was feeling the complete opposite...hopefully these will help you, too!

5 Ways to Get Creatively Inspired When You’re Feeling Stuck

1. Keep a Journal &/or Sketchbook - I've honestly heard this one so many times, and I can't believe it took me so long to follow this advice! Have you ever been out of the house and had an idea come to you and then by the time you get home you forgot that brilliant ideas? A journal, sketchbook, or even the Notes App on your phone are great places to jot those ideas as they arise in front of you. If you're like me, chances are you aren't going to remember what happened at 9AM by 8PM...write it down! I created a list of journaling prompts if you're curious about journaling but don't know where to start. You can get that Free Resource here! Oh...and (Pst...you can grab my NEW Jot & Joy Journal here!)

2. Change Environment - Sometimes changing your environment can give you a new perspective and stimulate some inspiration. Get out in nature and listen to what's happening around you. Find a park and watch the water roll over the rocks in the creek. Head to a new coffee shop and take in the fresh scents in the air. Try the local library and maybe grab a new book while you're there. If the same ole' places you spend your days are getting mundane, switch it up!

3. Embrace constraints - If you're feel paralyzed creatively, this is a great way to try something new. Set the timer on your phone and put a time constraint on whatever it is you're working on. Make 3 things using the same color. Putting some constraints on your workflow can sometimes activate a new creative path we hadn't thought of before. I've done this with warm-ups for calligraphy. I'll write out the alphabet in a new and unique way each time! That way, I'm not thinking about what to write, and I can focus on getting creative with letter styles, colors, and composition!

4. Engage in physical activity - You know at the end of the movie Legally Blonde when they win the case because "Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people just don't shoot their husbands."😂 Well, Elle Woods was right...Physical activity releases endorphins which can boost your mood. So, the next time you're feeling creatively uninspired..get moving! Take a walk, a swim, ride a bike, dance to you're favorite song...whatever it is, just go move your body!

5. Shake up your daily routine - I know there are so many benefits to having a morning routine but sometimes that daily routine can start to make us feel bored and uninspired. Break away from the ordinary to help stimulate your creative mind! Try switching things up a bit. It may just be the little change that could make big waves!

It's completely normal to not feel creative all the time, and It's completely normal to not feel inspired all the time. There is nothing wrong with you if you're just not feeling it everyday! But when you're ready to or needing to get creative, I hope these 5 tips help you get creatively inspired! I'd love to know what helps you get creatively inspired...let me know!
