DIY Christmas Ornament

If you're looking for a fun Christmas project that includes some sparkle and some faux calligraphy....I got you! These make great homemade gifts, too!

Your Materials:

1. Clear Glass Ball Ornament- You can find these pretty much anywhere this time of year! Clear plastic ornaments would probably work, too! I opted for the flat side ornaments this time around to make writing a little easier. If you scroll to the very bottom you can see another version with a typical round glass ball.
2. Mod Podge- You could also use Satin Varnish(my favorite) or make a glue/water mixture (you want it a little runny)
3. Glitter- Confetti and sprinkles work, too! Scroll to the bottom for how the rainbow sprinkles turned out!
4. Paint Pen- An oil based marker will be the most permanent. I prefer  Sharpie, Posca, and Molotow Pens.
5. Paper Plate- to keep the mess in one place :)
6. Funnel- This just makes pouring the glitter into the ornament a little easier. If you don't have a funnel, you can curve a piece of paper into a cone shape to make your own.
7. Ribbon- Tie to the top of your ornament so you can hang it on your tree

Project Steps:

Step 1: Open the top of your ornament.

Step 2: Pour a small amount of glue mixture into the ornament. Turn the ornament so that a thin layer of the Mod Podge(glue/water mixture) covers the inside. I recommend turning the ornament upside down and allowing any excess to pour out onto a paper plate.

Step 3: Add that glitter (or sprinkles/confetti) !! This is the fun part...add as much as you want!

Step 4: Put the top of your ornament back on, so all that glitter stay put.

Step 5: This is my favorite step...personalize your ornament with a little faux calligraphy! Write names, holiday words, the year...whatever your little heart desires!

I recommend using an Oil Based paint pen if you want the writing to stay permanent for years to come. Water Based paint pens work well, too...just not as permanent! My favorite paint pens are: Sharpie, Posca, and Molotow Pens.

Step 6: Add a cute ribbon and hang it on your tree!
